Stage 4 Life was the vision of Sheryl Auringer. Having been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer Sheryl saw a void in the assistance available to stage 4 patients. She saw many organizations seeking a cure for cancer and several granting wishes to children with cancer, but none to assist those facing a stage 4 diagnosis. Sheryl lost her battle with cancer, however before leaving us she developed a plan to fill this void in assistance, and Stage 4 Life was born. The mission of our organization is to provide an opportunity for laughter and relief to those facing a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Here are Sheryl's words explaining her thoughts: "I want to help others stay positive. I've had a thought of formalizing a local group, an organization for stage 4 patients, their caregivers and family members.
Sheryl actually had a business plan outlined (down to the mission statement, logo, and forms) for a non-profit that would be much like the Make A Wish Foundation. Providing a distraction, having it about life and laughter with lots of support. We are now working to fulfill her dream. These individuals have given their all, submitted their bodies to the most savage of treatments, and believe beyond belief in miracles. They still pray for the miracle. Their strength is beyond heroic, but they need our help to endure the challenges this horrific disease has brought into their lives. Whether it’s day trip to get-away or legal services, they need our help.
